About the Role
The Community Support Worker is responsible for the development and delivery of community and family programs and services with a focus on overall health and wellness. This should include parenting support and education, prevention services, as well as land-based healing and wellness programs that promote self-esteem, healthy lifestyles and relationships for adults and youth. The incumbent will identify health and wellness resources and assist clients with referrals to services. This could include transportation to and from appointments. The community support worker will also coordinate and attend the annual elders gathering with the Osoyoos Indian Band Elders each year. The support worker will meet for weekly check-ins and provide monthly activity reports to the Health Lead.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Understands the social and health issues and needs within the Osoyoos Indian Band community.
- Understands professional guidelines and limitations and ensures that proper credentials and practices are in place.
- Maintains and models appropriate personal boundaries with clients, and refrains from involvement with client personal affairs or other business that may constitute a conflict of interest.
- Understands reporting requirements and keeps and submits up-to-date records on all related activities.
- Assess community members needs and concerns to determine suitable resources.
- Assist with community functions and events.
- Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the delivery of community-based programs and workshops with a focus on healthy lifestyles and relationships. Activities and programs should promote overall wellness or be focused on prevention and support.

- Prepare the registrations and travel arrangements for the annual elders gathering. Attendance to the event is required to assist with registration and to support any on site needs of the OIB Elders group.
- Promotes and encourages each client to maintain an optimum level of health, well-being, and self-esteem.
- Drive clients to and from appointments between Kelowna and Osoyoos as needed.
Qualifications (Required)
- Social services degree or Community services worker diploma and or related work experience.
